The Cruz Locust Gutter Wheel

A Message from Warren Brown (Ep 18 - Guest Judge)

The three inventions vying for the award this week were so clever, so ingenious, so preposterously difficult to judge – it was a crying shame that all three weren’t ultimately winners. Yet, it seemed obvious, to combine the key features of each invention into a particularly useful, one-stop-shop creation : THE PATENT RECUMBENT-LOCUST-ANNIHILATING-GUTTER-ROUTING-WATER-WHEEL-CYCLE ™.

It’s quite simple really – the recumbent cyclist pedals forward, the front-wheel-drive sprocket engaging with a toothed gear, attached to a vertically mounted offset toothed connecting rod, which inturn is meshed with a gear-mounted fishing reel – the short throw of the connecting rod turns the reel back and forth, pulling a length of fishing line and thus opening and closing the jaws of the Locust Annihilator ™. At the other end, a chain from the pedal-sprocket to the rear hub, turns a pulley connected to the Gutter-Routing-Water-Wheel ™, thus displacing leaves everywhere.

This invention is perfect for the house that is undergoing a locust plague and already has a cycleway built under the eaves....Warren Brown.

..... Ah ha! lets get onto it Warren, meet you for breakfast at Circular Quay!

John, I want to spin off the

John,
I want to spin off the CruzBike design to create a permanent  attached carrier for my dog.  Right now I'm towing her behind in a traditional doggie trailer.  I originally thought about going to a trike design with an extra rear wheel, however I haven't ruled out two wheels or something up front either.  Has anyone played around with the trike idea?  My dog, Marley, weighs about 60lbs...
John
