Cruzbike Australia

Submitted by John Tolhurst on Fri, 20/05/2011 - 16:16

Cruzbike is an Australian invention, invented by me in 2005. Actually its a collection of inventions, which at present culminates in my Cruzbike Vendetta design, a bike that all indications are will be responsible for an outbreak of new world records in the coming years.

I recently participated in an episode of The New Inventors. This informal recognition means a lot and my appearance on the program gives credibility to the research, development and design that had to be done before it was possible to design and produce the Vendetta. The Vendetta is an embodiment of my US patent 7753388. Having taken the inventive steps, it then took another few years to properly understand how to implement the patent from a design and ergonomics standpoint. While the patent is a US patent the invention was created in Australia and developed and designed in Australia.

I love to supply bikes to people and see them enjoy cycling again and reap the many other benefits of mood boosting, healthy economical transport. And I love seeing people discover how they can perform, how fast they can go and for how long, on a bicycle where all ergonomic issues and many safety issues are resolved. We supply bikes to Australia from Taiwan, or from our US base in North Carolina.

Perth is a wonderful city to work in, or so I find and I am advantaged in no small way by having a very supportive wife. I'm very proud that Cruzbike comes from Australia. I'm also very proud to do something that my son is able to relate to. Draw, make, test, draw again is a process that even a child can understand while other work I do concerns techniques and processes that require maturity and formal education. So my family life and my design and inventive life are closely aligned, I believe.

I design and invent in Perth. I have an office and a small workshop. I do a lot of drawing. Since 2005, my IP output includes a range of design registrations, innovation patents, provisional patent applications and full US patents.

Thank you John, for designing

Thank you John, for designing absolutely wonderful bikes.  I will be coming to Australia soon and have to leave my Sofrider behind Sad  My daughter loves it though and is using it for ACL therapy after surgery-so it will continue to be loved.   I will be looking to buy a Quest once I am over there.

live life so that future generations will have a life to live
