    Question for the older riders

At 67 years I’m better looking than I was at 57 but definitely slower. Something I use with great success is electronic muscle stimulation. I average 1 mph faster at the same heart rate. It seems to help muscle fatigue more than strength and you notice the effect in only a couple of sessions.

What I did to prepare for Sebring 2017 ---today

trplay, I have this part on a Silvio 1.5 that I don't ride anymore. It came from my Silvetta creation. If you can't find it anywhere else we probably can work something out....Steve

    New and Improved Headrest Clamp

Not that I have ever had a complaint concerning the stock head rest on the Silvio or Vendetta, I decided to make an "adjustable" head rest. I don"t know if Maria is still pursuing this design or not, she did have some interest a while ago. I made it out of an ADEM head rest pad and fastened it...

My Neck Rest is better than Yours.

Is the metal bracket attached to the neck cushion piece from the original ADEM mast assembly, or fabricated? pedlpadl....... I've done both, you can cut the ADEM piece or make one out of 1 1/2" x 1/8" aluminum.

My Neck Rest is better than Yours.

I think Maria may be working on it.

Boom ... was that an S30 that just passed you?

I've been ridding the Silvetta for quite some time now, it's light and fast. It may be the best of both worlds and would appeal to a lot of riders because of the higher seat angle. I prefer the Silvetta for climbing but for speed the Vendetta is still king. Honestly,if I had to choose only one...

I sense a disturbance in the 3rd Law

At it again, for those of you that like compact crank sets and smaller gear cogs, this may be a solution. This method is apparently used by a few recumbent manufacturers. This allows for proper height adjustment of the front derailleur. The example is fairly crude( I didn't have any 1 3/8"...

What I learned building out a pair of 2016 V20 Vendettas

I use the new Shimano BB. I made a simple shim. No problems at all.

    Amateur aerodynamics

News flash! when installing the vector2 power pedals it helps to enter your crank length! ( which I did not ). I found my power output for a 19 mph ave. to be between 130-135 watts ave. , quite a bit higher than 115 watts. I figure Larry noticed that already. However, I'm still showing very...

    Amateur aerodynamics

Larry, What I’ve found is that if I try to keep the average watts constant, my speed varies greatly depending on the wind direction. This difference is quite often 5 mph. I’m thinking that the aerodynamic effects would be exaggerated at higher speeds compared to lower speeds, thus...

    Amateur aerodynamics

(I have two questions: first did you try the disk wheel alone without fairing; secondly, is the fairing covered underneath or only the sides? Sorry if this was mentioned already and I missed the information.) No to the first and yes (underneath) to the second.

    Amateur aerodynamics

trplay, I know what you're saying, these are only early test results. I do try to ride in the 18-19mph range so that the aerodynamic effects are close to equal. I tend to ignore the average watts. I ride at the same time of day and wear the same clothing each trip. I agree, further testing...

    Amateur aerodynamics

(Before getting to carried away) I actually made 4 trips, one was with the triangle fairing only. On this trip I was 18.9mph ave. @ 114 watts ave. The results seem to be in line.

    Amateur aerodynamics

As a follow up I have tested my vendetta with the rear triangle fairing and rear wheel disc. I used a garmin vector 2 pedal power meter. To my surprise my vendetta is much faster without the rear fairing and rear wheel disc. This was my result on a 14 mile loop from my house: With fairing...

Has anyone experimented with closing off the rear triangle? I thought it might be effective in combination with a rear disc. I made this shroud out of carbon fiber and I'm using Velcro tape to hold it on.
