Bent Large Chainring!

Been throwing the chain when I try to shift to the large chainring so I took the bike to my LBS to get them to adjust the shifting for me. They did a thorough check and found that it was bent. Say what?

I fell in my drive way twice about a year ago (landed in the grass) but didn't have any problems shifting afterward. I haven't had a fall since then. I have had the front end get away from me a couple of times and swing around and hit the bike. Would that provide sufficient force to bend the chainring?

Now I've had to order another chainring to replace it.

TIA

I've bent a chainring before, just from heavy climbing.
Sometimes it happens. I'd consider it a trophy of awesomeness :)

(It is possible it has been bent since your fall and the way you had everything adjusted, you just didn't notice. The shop may still be right in telling you that it is bent).

Yeah, it's definitely bent...

So if you bend yours just by heavy climbing, you must be one of those "thunder thigh" riders!
