Bike-E as a donor bike?

I am wondering if a Bike-E would make a reasonable donor bike. I have a size Small Bike-e that I could experiment with. I would get a new 20" wheel for the back, install a 20" fork and move the current back wheel to the front (of course). One possible issue is the attachment of the drivetrain triangle to the handlebar stem; it might be too thick. One could end up with a low-racerish moving bottom bracket front wheel drive. How crazy is this?

Thanks,

Hmmm...

My wife had a BikeE for a while, not a bad bike.

I think it could be converted, since the head tube is ahead of the bottom bracket. You'd remove the crankset and bottom bracket and install them in the conversion kit front tube, of course.

The SRAM 3x7 hub used by BikeE is the grandfather of the DualDrive hub we use in the Quest. It should fit reasonably well.

The question is around the steering assembly. Again, I think the conversion steering column should be able to mount in place of the standard tall stem. You may need to extend it a bit.

Good Luck. Let us know how you get along.

Cheers,

Doug
