Camera Mounts for the Slider/Boom.

I have been using a Mobius ActionCam on the handlebars lately and like it. The only problem is that I can't get it positioned such that my legs and feet aren't in the frame. o_O

I was wondering if anyone had found a way to mount a camera to the boom? Seems like a good place to put a camera. I haven't been able to find a commercial brand mount that is large enough to handle the circumference of the boom so I am thinking that I am going to have to fabricate something. Any ideas? :)

TIA

Thanks, Bob... you always come through!

I may go that route eventually but I watched a couple of youtube videos (see below) showing some DIY mounts so I'm going to give that a try first. I enjoy the challenge. My plan is to use an appropriately sized Worm Gear Hose Clamp and a Tripod Mini Ball Head for DSLR Camera. This would allow me to mount it anywhere on the Slider/Boom and give me 360 degrees of Swivel. I just have to decide on how I want to attach the ball head to the clamp. I'm thinking JB Weld but a simple 1/4" bolt/screw might also work.

BTW, here are some photos of how I mounted my Fly6. It is nice and high and does not interfere with my helmet. I am getting excellent videos from it.

I did think of trying to position it under the BB but never quite figured how to get the position just right.

In the end I have my Möbius mount under the seat (on the bottom of the frame). Stuck there using the Mobius helmet mount accessory. In that position you can see the wheel of course. Good thing is that it is stable as the boom moves around more. I have a few YouTube vids up that you may have seen.

Ivan,

Yes, I have enjoyed your videos... I have been using my Mobius handlebar mount which is fine except I don't want my feet and knees in the video so I am going to see what I can come up with for the slider/boom. As small as the Mobius is, I might even see if I can mount it out by the BB on the "light mount". At least that is what I assume that is...

Yeah, that's what the mount is! I didn't put mine there coz my light is there. Also you would need it slightly forward so the wide angle lens doesn't get blocked by the chainring. Should be a great spot if you can figure that out.

Hmmm...didn't think about that.
