Nice job Bob...the only problem I see, is your bike is just to darn clean, I'm jealous

. My V and S are filthy, even though I wide them down after each ride...drives me crazy...not used to all that moisture falling from the sky.

Have you had a chance to try out the new single piece CF seats yet...they look really clean without the joint?

It better be clean .... 4 hours deep cleaning the last of the chains on Friday night. That was date night around here a movie wd40 and a brush.

I have ridden it on the mag trainer it is comfy. The wife wants lady's version with a narrower (left right) seat pan. She can't put both feet on the ground without pinching legs tendons and she's still not comfortable olu putting one leg down at stop lights. Was planning to look into your away seat up as a possible solution.

I just purchased another Hostel Shoppe CF seat I'm getting ready to mount up on my Silvio, it's a medium. I can get you some photo's and measurements later this week of what it would look like. These seats do come in small, but I don't know if the seat pan is smaller than CB's standard seat.

Improving durabilty

Back in post number 4 of this thread I detailed building the Bottle mount using two Top Peak brackets. They work but they also broke when I laid the bike a little roughly on it's side in a ditch while rushing to inspect the the farmer's corn.

So I started the search for a better options it took a while but I think Steve and I have nailed it.

Starting with an Orgin 8 - TT Bottle bracket that is meant to go under DF seat and mount two cage back to back.

A little iterative try and improved and we have this new assembly

This should be way stronger than the original idea; and it's ultra light adding almost no weight at all.

After I get the bike assembled with the final version I'll update with photos and impressions.

This would make a heck of a standard accessory.

Possibly, but they are ultra light and that's a lot of weight hanging back there with bottles and bags hanging from it. I was surprised that I snapped the toppeaks. Once it's all installed and loaded we'll see how it looks and how sturdy it is.

Bottle mount

Eric, I think the photo makes it look a lot larger than it really is, I painted this one black, helps the perspective.

Still looks kind of hefty to me, even in black so I'm not sure of that slimming claim...

Did you shorten your headrest rails too? I trimmed mine down to get the headrest further down my frametube to accommodate my shortliness. I've been tempted to alter the bend too just a wee little bit.

Here's another perspective.

Eric,

Here's another perspective.

146g. By the time there's two oversize bottles and two bags hanging from it; I think we'll be good. To go smaller would require 2 bolts and a slightly different design. Could probably drill 2 or 4 holes into the shims to lighten them up. Weight in the water in any case.

I really need to stop training and do another week bike setup project the parts are piling up in the basement again.

Overdue update

I've been so busy working and training that I just finally got Version 2.0 of my Hydro setup installed. With the help of Steve we hacked up some Origin8 TT bike bottle mounts.

Mount on the head rest tubes

Set the angle

Pull the cover over with a tiny cut in the fabric

Install the Leynze Flow Cages

Hrydo2_0_4.jpg
Hrydo2_0_5.jpg

Install a "Nobz" to the mount for attaching a tail light. (Eventually that will be a Fly6 camera)

The bottles now sit back to back.

Finished. They still sit completely in the shadow of my shoulder and head. But they are higher up and easier to reach while riding.

Similar upgrades to the Silvos is pending.

Nice bottle mount. This might

Nice bottle mount. This might be the solution I need. Went on my first Vendetta ride last weekend, a 10 mile circuit on multiuse trails around a local lake. Had 2 Lezyne Flow cages mounted under the seat. On a VERY smooth stretch across the dam one of the bottle launched. Strange since it takes quite a bit of force to remove them manually. About 2 miles previous to launching the bottle I did hit a VERY bumpy stretch so maybe that loosened the bottle. I heard the bottle launch and skid but thought the sound might have been my phone or keys in the ?FastBack Flash Frame Pack. I stopped and looked for black bits but saw nothing and didn't notice the missing bottle. After the ride was done, I noticed the issue while mounting the Vendetta on the bike rack to head home. I was able to drive ALL the way around the lake (dam road is one way) and find the missing bottle lying at the edge of the road. Lesson learned.

Ratz, what product did you use as a donor for the silver bits on the bottle mount you fashioned? I'd be interested in reproducing that mount.

Donor part

That's pretty wild I've never managed to eject a bottle out of those flow cages. We need to get you the celebratory cookie :)

The donor is an origin 8 Tri bike product. "HydroRail Double Seat Bracket"

http://www.origin8.bike/product-description/?prod_model_uid=7231

You should able to get it for under $20.

Bob,

Thanks for the link. I'm actually wondering about the silver clamp mechanism in your pics which is similar to the black painted clamp mechanism in scabinetguy's pic. Is that merely the clamp included with a previous version of the ?HydroRail Double Seat Bracket pictured below?

Oh the clamp.

It was made from scratch by Steve (scabenetguy). It's the same clamp he used for his new AeroBag setup. I just didn't paint mine yet.

Bob,

OK, all set with the Gary Origin 8 Hydrorail with clamp modification.

Now I'm working on a way to mount a tail light. You mentioned, "Install a 'Nobz' to the mount for attaching a tail light" in your post #30 above. What is a "Nobz"?
