My Silvio 1.0 converted to electric...not for the purest :)
As you can see from the pics, it is very stealthie

I use the Bafang mini front wheel 36V 250 watts hub.

This is my easiest conversion...every thing just drop

straight in and aligned the first time.(my first front hub

conversion :) )

Top throttle speed 28 kph on 40 volts, climb most hills

easily. Bafang always under spec their motors, you can

double the wattage on hill climb but the speed on spec

voltage is the legal limit of 25 kph. If you want more

speed just increase the voltage.

I have added around 4.5 kgs to the Silvio. It can be

converted back to a standard Silvio in less than 10 mins,

just replace the original back wheel. I have not drill

or modify any part of the bike. I used the holes on the

seat to hold the bracket for the batteries/controller.

I bought the hub only and did the lacing myself, the

standard rim has 32 holes, the hub has 36 hole. Rim for

the same size tyre is difficult to find at local

bike shops, but is available at ChainReaction online.

I kept the battery light by only using 5000 mah

10S 40V Lipos from HobbyKing. Depending on riding

style with this capacity I can get 40+ km on

a 30/70 usage..pedal 70% on most flats, 30% on hills

and into strong head wind. It works out to be around

2-3 watts per km.

My Silvio is friendly now, if you feel the wobbles

coming on just push the throttle and get back to pedalling

speed. Hills and uneven terrain is not an issue.

VERY sweet conversion.
Thanks

VERY sweet conversion.
Thanks for sharing.

Where'd you pick up the Bafang 250W?
I see a review comparing it and the Cute 250W.

I don't see the suppliers off-hand though?

I use lithium polymer for battery, you need to know how to handle it..read FAQ about
lipos. You can get it at hobbyking.com. Buy the 4 port charger..pretty cheap.
I handle lipo from day one, l fly electric model planes, lipo and brushless motors
are the holy gral of flying ..power to weight ratio we never dreamt of.
Ebike uses exactly the same components.

I did a reasonable distance ride today with the Esilvio, the terrain consist of hills, the steepest was a 30% incline, my riding was 50/50 style, clocked 30 kms and my battery usage was only 55%. That surprised me , my other hubs would have used 80+%.. l guess the Silvio is very light and with 100 psi skinny tyres. I can just throttle up most hills without pedaling.

Since electrifying the bike my non electric riding skill has improved heaps, The bike is very stable and in full control at certain pedaling torque not speed. l guess you experts out there already knew that.

Met up with Dennis at Surrey Park, he gave me the thumbs up for the conversion
and rejuvenate his interest in cruzbike. Dennis lost interest in cruzbike few years back.
He was very passionate of the design..read his article in the Aus cruzbike site.
