I was in the Goodwill yesterday and came across a set of brand-new Specialized Awol 29er sealed-bearing wheels. With a brand new SRAM NX 10-42 cassette. $30.00.
I figured out why they were in the Goodwill when I got them home. The tiny retaining wire that holds the palls of the cassette-body ratchet was displaced. Set that right, regreased, and now I have a very nice wheelset!
I'm actually going to use Shimano shifter and derailleur with a SRAM 11-speed chain to best match the tooth profile of the cassette. Researched and found that the cassettes are interchangeable still with 11 speed.
