Parking Brake

When touring with a loaded bike I was having trouble figuring out what to do with it at stops.
When loaded, the kickstand is just not strong enough to support the bike and I didn't really like laying the bike on it's side.
I sort of discovered/realized that if you applied the brake, then leaned the brake handle juuuuusst right against a tree/post/wall it acted like a parking brake & the bike stays put.

The trick is to get the appropriate lean figured out.

I use a cross-section of 2x1 3/8 inner-tube as a parking brake on my Silvio but it can be a little difficult to grab, especially with gloves. I make do.

You could also use things like LiveStrong bracelets or you could order one of these.

Looks like it has some nice features.

I like it. Far lighter than a kickstand. Even lighter than a brake lever with a park brake stopping pin, which are not available for brifters anyway.

My brother owns a terra trike and they utilize a velcro strap that wraps around the brake lever.

It works well.
