Hi all!

i have a Silvio 1.0 and wonder if there has been any improvement in the seat pads as far as thickness. I am now able to ride just with the Cruzbike pads and no additional padding, and my backbone is getting bruised.

thanks!

I doubt it. At least I don't think the foam on my Silvio 2.0 cushions is any thicker than it was on my Sofrider v2. Also I'm noticing that the seat bottom cushion foam seems compressed totally flat after about 20 miles on the bike. The seat back is fine for me, as long as I don't sit too high in the seat, then I get some lower back discomfort.

Adding more padding should be easy, the cushion fabric has an opening on the back.

I put more padding inside the seat pads on my Sofrider.
On my Vendetta I just used the stock seat pads.
I usually don't ride for many hours but if I did I might put some extra padding also on my seat pads on the Vendetta.

I rode a relatively fast 24-mile group ride at 21 mph average last week without my bottom seat pad. I had inadvertently left the seat pad in my wife's car and had to go without it. The Silvio seat was still comfortable even without padding. I am not saying that no padding is the answer, but maybe less, firmer padding is a way to go. I find the Cruzbike cushions to be comfortable, but I have thought about a Ventisit or Zotefoams pad.

Sold our Silvio 2.0 demo

Sold our Silvio 2.0 demo yesterday, and through in the sport 20mm "Cruzbike" pattern Ventisit cushion, which could also be ordered in a thicker 30mm comfort version. I just asked that the customer provide pix and feedback of the experience with it :)

Nanda,

You threw in the sport 20mm "Cruzbike" pattern Ventisit cushion as part of your Silvio 2 demo sale? E.g. you included a Ventisit cushion like the one shown on the blue Sofrider in your photo?

Is the Ventisit for the Cruzbike a one-piece cushion rather than two-piece?

What is the advantage of the ventisit pad as compared to the stock cushions? Nanda, did you have a matching headrest cushion replacement? Motorbike shops in my parts make replacement seat cushions that look very similar and I have been seeing them on increasing numbers of motorbikes. While I could easily enquire, I have been satisfied with the stock seat pads thus far, with the longest ride being 3 hours.

@ Eric, yes...Steve scored

@ Eric, yes...Steve scored our CB patterned Ventisit. I'll usually add some bonus item if the customer is friendly and fun to deal with, just keeps the good karma a'flowin ;)

@ Ivan, I got some other Ventisit bits to play with, none that match the CB headrest tubes, but it is well within Bart's (owner of http://ventisit.nl) skills that he could design one

I had a Sofrider/Quest cushion on hand, looks like he has Vendetta pattern that is probably pretty close to the Sivio:

Here are some's Steve took of the Silvio after fitting it with this Ventisit:

Here is a look at one of the headrest I think is in my Ventisit kit:

I used a Ventisit pad on my Silvio. It is comfortable and better ventilated in hot weather. On the negative side it really marred the finish on the seat pan.

I have used three layers of 10 mm thick ACS10 Recumbent seat Pads mesh 2.1 m * 0.8m from EMP industrial for $100, and installed it inside the standard Cruzbike pad cover. I used 3 layers and the existing high density foam on the seat base to maintain its shape for this small pad
.
It has made riding in 40C heat MUCH better, and the pads have not compressed at all after 1 year of riding with my 106 kg light body!
