What size aluminum road racing wheels fits the Silvio 2.0 the best and makes this model fast ? Would it be possible to install 29 inches aluminum road racing wheels to it ? Is there a big difference in weight or performance between wheels with high walls compared to standard sized lower models ?

It would be nice to get some answers to my questions :)

Wish you all a nice weekend , Martinius Berg

The bike takes up to a 700x25c comfortably. If you have older narrow rims you can't fit a 28c, but if you have a newer wide rim you might be able to squeeze a 28c depending on the tire. The combination of rim+tire will control the height of the tire.

As for racing wheels that depends on your definition of "racing."

Best place to start your research would be here:

Thanks Ratz for the good tech information . I read most of it and found it very interesting reading. I like the 700 C campagnolo aluminum wheel set for 11 speed very much. :) What do you think of the Aero wheels quality and performance that Cruzbike offers for the Silvio

Friendly regards Martinius Berg.

Ratz You are an Encyclopedia on bike info!!!

LOL nope people just keep asking questions about stuff I'm researching at the moment. Wheels are the last project this year (bikes are almost ready for next years official events, and 4 months ahead of schedule). If anyone lives in a low-wind area. I have some really nice Aero wheels that will be going on sale cheap on ebay. Unfortunately they are a little too Vshaped to ride our 18mph cross winds; I need something a little more tolerate which of course means a lot more expensive.

Two great wheel articles!!!

I do like that site, most of the other keep re-hashing the same vendor aero data. You can't really go all Dcrainmaker on wheels it too fuzzy of a topic. I like his "they feel like approach" but the guy can't write a short article.... Anyhow I can look up the other "data" and I can test for myself to see how they perform on our bikes. I just finish getting up to speed on Reynolds new stuff; Finally they are releasing new stuff that looks good and on par with others; but at that "nice" relative price point. Gotta put them back on the radar.

Could you send me a pm perhaps when placing your ad on Ebay ? I might be intrested :)

No Problem, I'll alway post here in the for-sale forum for 1-2 weeks first. Since I'm doing incremental upgrades on a plan I prefer to make the previous gear available to the CB Tribe first since it's all tested on the bikes and allow others to move up at better prices. Tribe discount and all that too :). Should be about a week depending on what kind of turn time my wheel builder gives me.

I am also thinking of getting an aero wheel for the front (drive) wheel on the V. I'm down to limited options now to get faster. Like shaving my arms and legs. I need to get past the 35 mph limit on the flats to beat the really strong guys.

I enjoy my Velocity Aileron wheels. Then again I've not really compared them to anything else. For me they win because they make a wide (28) tire fit nicely without incurring too large an aero penalty.
They'd not be the only rims/wheels to do this, however.

Very good choice. I know them rims well :)

Thanks Martinius

A collection of more reading on this topic of wheels:

Tire width/size education -- I had to up my knowledge on the aerodynamic impact versus rolling resistance impact of 23mm versus 25mm on the current generation of wider rims. These article helped fill in some gaps others might find useful. The Rolling resistance part I understood; the aero stuff makes a little more sense now. In-spite of Lew being a "reynolds guy" his resume in the Olympics and elsewhere makes his info relative across other brands I suspect.

http://reynoldscycling.com/reynolds/news/askpaullewMarch
http://road.cc/conte…/…/114442-paul-lew-talks-wheel-dynamics

Then this piece focuses nicely on the "at the same pressure" component which is oh so important.

We'll be testing the Schwalbe One 23 mm that came with our new wheels (that's what I could get this time of the year fast). Should get 3 months of road data. When the PRO's ship we'll switch the 25 mm and see if what happens when we give up some Aero to get a far bit less Rolling resistance. Should be interesing to see the impact at speeds over 23mph.
