The Virtue of A Compact on a Silvio!

There is so much wisdom in John's design. The Silvio is such an amazing climber that I am not even using the granny gear. I am regularly climbing a 4% hill and greater and have not required the granny.

So psychologically, many of us are used to having that granny. Remove it from your mind. The Silvio is so efficient you don't need it!

4% aren't

4% aren't hills. Those are bumps. :D

O.k. Those are hills. And sustained 4% is noticeable. But not as much as sustained 8%, or 12% (with peaks of 18%)...

But, yes, I think that Cruzbikes do climb well. In my case, it's just the engine that can't cut it. :)

You are right, but the 4%

You are right, but the 4% goes for 10 miles! The difference in climbing ease is noticeably different from my titanium Bacchetta Aero.

Got to head out and hit some harder hills!

Glad the bike is working for you.

My first conversion bike told me we were onto something when I found I was climbing all my typical hills one entire chainring up from where I was climbing them with my old Vision R40.

Were you (we) able to resolve all the concerns we were working on?

Cheers,

Doug
