Sorry to hear Vendetta didn't work out for you.

I was in the same situation as you when I first rode Vendetta in April (What have I done moment!!!).

The improvised damper did it for me and now I have learnt to ride the bike fairly confidently. Infact, last week I hit my fastest average - 35.2km/hr . I have never been able to achieve that with my M5 CHR. Moving on the M5 even crossed my mind (I will still keep it though).

I imagined your handle bar set up would be hard to pull on to counteract the pedal strokes.
