Putting the drive wheel up front
Sometimes, we get asked about how to put rear wheels in the front. All that is taken care of in our CB-Kit, if you like to build your own bike.
And sometimes from folks who are doing their own front wheel drive bike on their own, we are asked how to put front wheels in the back as well. Here's a reply I made recently.
We don't stock axle sets seperately as they come with the Kit and to keep costs down, the kit axle isn't a quick release axle.
It is possible to make a quick release rear axle to mount a front wheel. I've listed the parts below for a suitable quick-release axle, and I've ordered them from Harris Cyclery before. Tom Deakins up there is very good at sourcing Wheels Mfg. parts, which are very high quality.
The axle for an aluminum dropout is 5mm longer than that for a steel dropout, as the steel dropout is thinner, and having a too-long axle will prevent the quick release from biting into the dropout properly.
